Become a writer – are you Ready to Write?
becoming a writer is hardly a simple feat. To become a writer a person needs to practice and work vigorously. It can be said that many writers ARE writers, but few of them know how to BECOME a writer. The label “writer” is simply a word, it is all the hard work and determination of reaching that status that truly gives the writer that title, and makes them worthy of it.
Many unpublished writers have the habit of saying they want to write, or perhaps even that they do write occasionally, instead of just saying “I’m a writer.”
Writers ought to see themselves as people who write, and not as people who write for a living. For most writers, being published is validation of their status as a writer and even a path to success, but there are many published writers who are not very successful, famous, or rich.
However, being published is a great way to feature your work to an audience, and gain recognition, no matter how big or small. On the path to becoming writing there are many who lose sight of the fact that they don’t stop writing once they are published, so it is not smart to only write to be published.
There are five simple steps that one can take that will yield the title of “writer”.
Step 1 — Claim It
There are a lot of ways to claim yourself as a writer.
First, say the words aloud to yourself, and repeat them as many times as possible until they are believable to you and others around you.
Many writers believe that they cannot be known as writers until they are published, but this is not true. Anyone who thinks of themselves as a writer, and writes on regular basis could proudly title themselves — WRITER.
Step 2 — Arrange It
Next, find a targeted place for your writing, which can be a room, section of a room, or a studio. It is also important to make the “writing space” as pleasant as possible. Make it useful to your writing needs by obtaining the proper writing tools, such as pens, pencils, notebooks, and a computer that is used specifically for your writing.
Step 3 — Learn It
Aspiring writers can also find lessons on-line and off-line on how to become a writer. Buy a good style book, dictionary, and thesaurus and keep them handy as writing tools.
It is also helpful to befriend other writers. Read their work and discuss passages and alternative as a fellow writer.
Step 4 — Schedule It
The next step to becoming a writer is to create time to write. Novices are always told to make time for their craft, yet a lot of aspiring writers often fail here. Although they want to be writers, they let the world intrude on their special time, severely impactinga how much they write,
It is important to set aside a particular time or day for writing and to stick to that schedule, because deviance from a writing schedule usually produces unfinished work.
Step 5 — Do It
The last step to becoming a writer is by far the simplest — you must write. When learning how to become a writer, you must actually use that writing time and space you have set aside to … write.
In sports, this is known as practice. Ever see a champion in any sport who got there without practice?

Writer’s Block $5.80 As fine an album as this might be (and indeed it is), it serves a much higher purpose for which it must be immediately recognised. The twee Swedish trio have single-handedly tugged whistling out of popular music’s pits where it was stuffed by German soft metal granddads The Scorpions back in the early 90s. It’s not even particularly proficient whistling – it’s a bit skewiff really, a little out of… |
