Does the Social Security Administration do a criminal background check, including warrants, in disability cases?
I was wondering about this as I have a friend who has schizophrenia and can’t remember if he has any unpaid traffic violations in the several jurisdictions he has lived in that he hasn’t taken care of. He is paralyzed with fear at the prospect of searching any of the online resources for this information and, of course, does not wish to ask a member of law enforcement, so he was thinking that his pending case with Social Security would include a criminal warrant and background check and settle the matter. Thank you in advance for any answers.
No they do not check. This sort of worrying is fairly classic with his sort of illness.
You know it may be better to actually find out if there is any thing outstanding, probably not, the police are pretty good at finding people but to get that officially would mean you can stop him worrying.
