What Can I expect on and Introductory Counselling Course?

I’m looking forward to starting a counselling course next month but have a little trepidation as its been a while since ive been in the education loop.
Is there anyone out there who has completed a similar course that could tell me what to expect? Level of reading, good books to pick up now, helpful websites, that sort of thing?

You can expect just the basics of counselling. This will cover the different types, and methods used for counseling. Remember this is an introductory course and this will set the foundation for all of the counseling classes that will follow.
